Groom Creek Vacation

For part of October break we went to Groom Creek (just outside of Prescott) to enjoy some time at the Roberts cabin.

The first day we had a picnic at the lake nearby

We took advantage of the scenery and made the kids pose for some pictures

One of my favorite parts of our vacation was the family walks that we took each day.  We took a different route around the neighborhood each time.  It was so much fun admiring all of the fancy cabins/homes and imagining that they were ours. :)  On one of our evening walks, we saw several deer.  We just stopped and watched them.  A couple of them saw us and ran off.  The other deer saw that the others were running off and started running too except they ran a different direction and didn’t realize they were running straight for us.  They noticed us when they were about 20 feet in front of us and quickly switched directions.  Too bad we didn’t have our camera.

We love all of the big boulders in Groom Creek

A vacation is not a vacation without playing games together

Parker & Dallin created their own little clubhouse.

One of our favorite things to do at the Roberts cabin is to browse the antique shops in Prescott.  So much fun! We took the kids to Golden Corral (all you can eat buffet) for lunch.  Dallin’s eyes lit up when I told him that he could have as much dessert as he wanted! I’m pretty safe in telling my kids that because none of them can manage eating a whole lot of sweets at once.  Dallin first chose a chocolate cupcake.  After he was done, he was ready for more dessert.  With all of the available desserts, He came back with ANOTHER chocolate cupcake.  However, he ate a little frosting off the top of 2nd cupcake and that was enough dessert for him.

Now me on the other hand…I know how to eat desserts at an all you can eat buffet.  You have a little bit of everything!! Stan caught me in the act! Ya, I felt a bit sick afterwards, but hey…it was worth it!

We didn’t believe the kids when they told us that our neighbors had a javelina in their back yard

I loved this self-portrait that Cassie took

Cassie's Orchestra Concert

Cassie had her first Orchestra Concert for her 8th grade year.  At the end of 7th grade she auditioned for the Advanced Orchestra and made it.  She's having to work a little harder this year to keep up with the advanced students, but is doing great.  She is currently 3rd chair in the 1st violin section.  We are so proud of her accomplishments in violin.

My New Blog!!!

I’m starting a new blog!!! It’s entitled “My thoughts and feelings about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.” The gospel of Jesus Christ means so much to me and I love to share with others my feelings about it through writing. This blog will give me the opportunity to share my beliefs and to express my thoughts and feelings about the Gospel as often as I wish. I don’t know whether or not others will enjoy reading my thoughts, but I hope that at least my children and grandchildren will someday benefit from the things that I share on this blog. So if you want to check it out, here’s the link. If you enjoy it, add me to your favorites and come visit often. :)

Cassie went rappelling???

Stan and Cassie had a church youth campout in September.  One of the activities on Saturday was rappelling.  When I heard that they were doing rappelling, I thought, “there’s no way that Cassie will do it.”  Why did I think this? Because Cassie is SO much like me, and there’s no way that I would have gone rappelling at her age.  Well, I was surprised to hear that she actually did it! You go girl!!

Because she went down so slow, Stan was able to snap some pictures at the top of the mountain, and then run down the mountain to take some more from the bottom of the mountain. :)  It’s nice to have both angles.

Dallin turns 5!!

Dallin celebrated his 5th Birthday on September 17th.  He had been looking forward to his birthday for a whole year!! :)  I just can't believe that my baby is 5 years old.  It just doesn't seem possible.  What would I ever do without my Dallin boy? He makes me SO happy.  I absolutely LOVE being his Mom.  He is such a perfect little angel (even though he tells me that he couldn't possibly be an angel because he doesn't have any wings).  He has always been a little cuddler, which I love! He always tells me how beautiful I am and how much he loves me.  He is happy practically all of the time, and always makes sure that I'm happy too.   He is such a funny kid and is always making us laugh.  He's absolutely perfect!!

Here are a few fun pictures of him when he was small

Dallin's Birthday "Finally" arrived!

A couple of days later, Dallin had the cousins his age over for a b-day party.  He was born at a good time because 8 out of 9 of my siblings have a child around Dallin's age.  1 lives in Ohio so he wasn't able to come, and the cousins his age on the Roberts side all live out of town (we missed you guys!).

Happy Birthday sweet 5 year old!! I love you with all of my heart!!
