Father's and Son's Outings...over the years.

This last weekend was the annual Father's and Son's outing. This is a long time tradition in our church. My boys look forward to this event like you would not believe...especially Parker. Every year, Parker starts packing for this overnighter about 2 weeks before the outing, and constantly talks about how excited he is. It's really cute. I thought it would be fun to include some pictures of previous Father's and Son's.

2001-This was Parker's very 1st F&S outing. He was 3 yrs. old.

2002

Looking for something interesting I guess.

2003-Parker found some ladybugs.

2004-Parker caught a fish with his bare hands!!

2005-Parker's cousin Grant Kennedy moved into our neighborhood & ward (congregation), so this was the first year of many that they got to go to the F&S outing together.

I love this picture!!

2006-Tug of War-I love the look on Parker's face. He's really tugging hard!

Parker and Grant kayaking on their own!

It's a tradition each year to throw Parker in the lake...just kidding, not really.

2007-Parker and Grant

2008-Dallin finally gets to join his big brother at Father's and Son's. He was so excited!

I can only imagine how well Dallin did with the bow and arrow. :)

I love my boys!!

And Finally...2009-Parker and Grant enjoying their roasted marshmallows.

Dallin says, "Why waste time roasting when you can just eat them out of the bag?"

Looks like Dallin had a few too many marshmallows!

Parker, Dallin, Caden and Grant are excited to sleep in the tent.

There was enough snow left to build a snowman!

There's nothing like eating "clean, fresh, snow" Mmmm.

The final product-Dallin, Caden, Grant, and Parker

Maybe not. Mr.Snowman needs some hair.

Cool snow cave boys!!

And the snowball fight begins!

Dallin got Uncle Corey really good!!

Uh-oh! Snowball coming straight for the camera!

Uh, Corey...I don't think that snowball will fit in his shirt.

They even went on a 3 mile hike.

My 3 sweet boys

Corey and his boys (Grant and Caden)

Cool swing Dallin!
And I'm sure that there will be many more fun and exciting Father's and Son's outings in years to come!

When I was young, my Mom always made it a point to take all the girls out to dinner while my Dad and brothers were on the F&S outing. I like to carry on this tradition with my daughter. Cassie looks forward to the F&S outing just as much as the boys do because that means Mother/Daughter night out! We went shopping, bought pizza and came home to watch a movie. But I didn't think to snap a picture of us darnnit.

Free Fun Friday Night

Rather than spending $ on the school carnival last Friday, we decided to forego the carnival and have a “Free Fun Friday Night”. After meeting me at my chiropractor’s office, and leaving the Sentra there, we headed off in the van to Chandler Fashion Mall to visit a mobile museum which featured artifacts recovered from the Titanic. After waiting in line for an hour (I guess this was to be expected considering that it was a Free event), we were able to walk through the museum and experience the story of the Titanic. Before entering the museum, we each received a boarding pass which named a real person that sailed on the Titanic. It summarized who they were and why they were sailing on the Titanic. It was interesting to read their stories. At the end of the museum, we were able to look at the list to see if “we”(the person on the pass) were among the survivors. 4 out of 5 of us survived. Dallin was the only one that didn’t survive. :( I can’t even imagine what it must have really been like for the passengers of the Titanic. What a horrific experience!

The kids really enjoyed the museum. Every family (person) that came through the museum received a free picture with the "Captain" of the Titanic. The Captain was such a nice man!

After the museum we took the kids report cards to Krispy Kreme and got a dozen Free donuts. Usually your only option is glazed, but we were surprised when he said we could choose the kinds we wanted!! We were so excited about that! He must have been new. :)

We headed home to then watch the movie "Bolt" which the kids got from the Easter Bunny. As the garage door lifted up, Stan and I both looked at each other and yelled, "Oh No!!!" We both realized at the same time that we forgot to drop by the chiropractor's office to pick up the Sentra. Oh my goodness! So, we sent the kids in to watch "Bolt", and Stan and I made our way back to Country Club and Baseline. Oh well. So, besides the $ spent on gas :) we enjoyed our Free Fun Friday Night.

What an eventful week!!

Last week was a very eventful week. On Monday night we had a fun Family Home Evening with Stan’s family at his sister Donna’s house. 2 of Stan’s brothers and 1 sister came in from out of town for the week. It was SO great to see them all. 9 out of the 10 kids and their families were in town (we missed you Doug and Pam!). Here are some pictures of Monday night.

Disney On Ice

On Friday morning, Grandma & Grandpa Roberts (Stan’s parents) chartered a bus to take the whole Roberts family to Disney on Ice. It was a great show. The kids loved it!

Roberts Reunion

Well, the fun didn’t stop there. We had to leave the Phelps party early to make it to the Roberts Reunion. Every April Stan’s Dad and his siblings and all of their posterity get together for an evening reunion.

Stan’s sister Brenda made balloons for all the kids094

Easter Sunday

Whew!! What a week! It was so great spending time with family. Especially with those who live out of state. Now it’s time to switch gears and turn our thoughts to the reason why we celebrate Easter-our Savior Jesus Christ. Easter was a beautiful relaxing day. After church we spent time with our kids watching videos and reading stories about Jesus Christ. Parker decided that he wanted to do a little musical presentation on Christ. He found pictures to go along with the song “His Hands”. He held up the pictures as the song played in the background. We thought it was great!

008

011

We had Easter Dinner at home with just our own little family. During the dinner Dallin said, “Mom, I have something very special to give you.” When I asked him what it was, he got up from his chair and gave me a big hug!

And there you have it…the Roberts’ eventful week!!
