Imagined problems
Imagined problems
Are you fighting against obstacles that don't even exist? Often, the imagined problems can hold you back more firmly than the real problems.
For the imagined problems can prevent you from ever getting started in the first place. When you're certain that things are not going to work out, you have no incentive to move forward with them.
You never really know until you make the effort. The chances are very good that the obstacles are not nearly as difficult as you imagine them to be.
Every undertaking has its challenges, to be sure. Yet there's no reason for you to add to those real challenges with your own imaginary ones.
Go ahead, take action, and you'll likely discover that many of the obstacles you once imagined are not even there. And you'll find a way to handle those obstacles you do encounter.
Don't let the imagined problems stop you. Step confidently forward and move ahead with those things that need to be done.
-- Ralph Marston
Reading this reminded me of a quote I like by Winston Churchill:
“When I look back on all these worries I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which had never happened.”

4th of July Alpine trip
Alpine is our favorite place to be…especially around the 4th of July. We’ve been making memories here for 32 years!
Here are a few of our favorite things to do up at Alpine:
Build Forts
Go to the Alpine Parade
Make a trip to the Lollipop Shoppe, look around for a few minutes and then walk across the street to the general store to buy candy that’s affordable. :)
Play in the dirt. The kids love the Alpine dirt. The parents…not so much. :)
Swing on the “big swing” as we’ve always called it. We built this swing 30 years ago. It’s up on the mountain and it’s quite the thrill when someone is pushing you. When we were little my Dad was the best pusher ever!! :)
Play Frisbee Golf
Hang out with cousins
Have Campfires and Watch movies on the “Big Screen”.
“Sled” down the mountain
Go on family walks
Kayak and fish at Luna Lake
Be together as a family…what a blessing!!

Dallin’s 1st lost tooth
Dallin finally lost his first tooth today. He has been waiting for this day for a very long time! He has seen Parker lose many teeth the past couple of years and was quite jealous of him. The tooth was hanging by a thread this morning and so Stan grabbed the tooth and pulled it out before Dallin could even think about it. It’s so funny how losing your first tooth is always such a big deal. He was so excited about it. He wanted to show everyone he knew. He even wanted to go to bed early tonight so that the tooth fairy could come.
Can you tell he was excited?
Checking out the gap in his mouth in the mirror.

Girls Camp 2010
Okay, I am WAY behind on blogging as you can tell. I could never seem to find the time to blog while the kids were home during the summer. So here we go, I’m starting at the beginning…the beginning of the summer.
Summer started with a bang with Girls Camp. This year was even better because I got to take my hubby with me! Stan and I were asked to be “4th Year Adventure” leaders along with Chris and Mistie Rash. We also dragged Phil and Annalee Shumway to our Adventure to help out. :) We had a great time working with these fun couples. We got up to our campsite on Monday, May 31st to set up camp and all the Adventure activities before the 4th year girls got there on Tuesday morning.
After all the work was done on Monday, we enjoyed a nice evening together around the camp fire eating yummy ribs that Chris smoked for us and later some delicious hot chocolate that Mistie made.
Despite the cold weather and Phil’s and Mistie’s snoring, we had a pretty good nights sleep...TOTALLY kidding Mistie! (inside joke), however I’m NOT kidding about Phil’s snoring. :) Early in the morning Stan and I grilled up some breakfast sandwiches.
Later in the morning the 4th year girls and their leaders arrived. We had about 30 girls plus about 8 leaders. After they set up there tents and had lunch we headed down to the meadow for our activities.
Stan was in charge of teaching the girls Archery.
Chris was in charge of teaching the girls how to shoot 22 guns. Tia ROCKED!! :)
Some of the girls and leaders
Mistie and I were in charge of the obstacle course. The guys did a great job in setting it up. We were too busy running the course that we didn’t get any pictures. :( Anybody out there have any pictures of the obstacle course?? I would love to have them!
One of the leaders (Lani) fell and twisted her knee while running the obstacle course. :( Lani smiled through her pain as Stan took a picture of her and Susan. Stan told Lani to show him her pain…and that she did :) She was a good sport.
Sicily tries out Bro. Shumway’s AWESOME tennis ball launcher!!
Dinner time!!!! And even dutch oven peach cobbler for dinner. Yum!!
After dinner we relaxed by the fire, sang songs, and then Chris did a great astronomy lesson and devotional.
The next morning we ate breakfast, cleaned up the camp site and headed up to Girls Camp where the girls would stay the rest of the week. When we got there, the other girls in the Stake were beginning to arrive.
We were happy to see Cassie
We had SO much fun working with Mistie & Chris and Annalee & Phil on the 4th year adventure.
A few pictures from the first afternoon at Girls Camp. I was invited to stay the whole week, but because of physical limitations, it’s hard for me to be away from home for more than a day or two. So after the days activities, we said goodbye to Cassie and we headed home. Whew!!
Cassie stayed through Saturday and had a great time.
